Morgue File:

Study of trends from 1850 - 1980

the process

The Morgue File is a compilation of fashion trends and silhouettes studied throughout the semester. I meticulously gathered images representing a timeline of fashion from the years 1850 - 1980. Utilizing the textbook, “The History of Modern Fashion From 1850” and class lectures, I compiled a list of popular trends for the appropriate period. Additionally, I researched current events and popular designers and formed connections with them.

The objective of this project was to provide an educational of fashion history. This project assisted with the understanding of course content. I diligently searched for photographs to visually showcase how these fashion styles were worn and capture the essence of each decade. I utilized various online databases from multiple museums, incorporating relevant pop culture references when fitting. The selection of slide templates was crucial to effectively convey the unique vibes of each era. I am pleased to report that I received positive feedback on all three presentations, and my professor has chosen to showcase my 1930s-1950s presentation as an exemplary model for future classes.
